JAGGED SPIRES

CALIFORNIA (2025)

The jagged spires of the Trona Pinnacles reach skyward as the sun sets on the western horizon, producing a scene of warm, dynamic color.

LIMITED EDITION Fine Art Print

The Trona Pinnacles are a fascinating and unusual geologic area found in the Searles Lake Basin in the desert of southeastern California. More than 500 tufa towers are found in this amazing area that were formed underwater 10,000 to 100,000 years ago, when massive runoff from the Sierra Nevada created a chain of deep, interconnected inland seas. Mineral-rich freshwater springs bubbled up through the lakebed, reacting with the alkaline water to form these strange, towering spires. On this calm and beautiful evening, the sunset color combined with the pinnacles to produce a beautiful image as seen from an aerial perspective. This unique image of the Trona Pinnacles was photographed by southwest photographer Todd Stapleton, capturing this moment to be preserved and cherished for a lifetime.

JAGGED SPIRES is a unique and beautiful image of the incredible Trona Pinnacles in southeastern California.
