The Limited Editions
ALL of the images offered by Todd Stapleton Photography are limited in their editions. Keeping the images limited in edition gives much more value for the collectors and connoisseurs of fine art photography. It also preserves the fine art integrity of the image.
The editions are classified under different tiers of limitation. Once an image reaches its production limit, regardless of size or substrate, the image will be retired and no longer produced. Each image, regardless of their edition, comes digitally signed and numbered along with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
All limited edition fine art images offered by Todd Stapleton Photography are first editions. In some cases, artists will extend editions once the first edition sells out. Such practices diminish the value of a piece of fine art. As stated above, any image that sells out their respective edition will be retired and will not have any additional prints produced. This ensures the fine art offered by Todd Stapleton Photography retain their fine artistic value.
Additionally, the editions with fewer prints, such as the Limited Collector’s Edition of 25, will have a slightly higher value than those of higher edition numbers, such as the Limited Archival Edition of 200. Several factors go into the process of assigning the edition size to each image, but image quality is not one of them. When curating the images for this online gallery, photographer Todd Stapleton selects only the images he feels meet his stringent prerequisites for quality and artistic value. In other words, images limited to editions of 25 are not of any higher quality than those limited to an edition of 200.
