This area of southcentral Utah is a geological wonderland, making it a premier location for landscape photography. Hundreds of photographers travel to this region from around the globe to capture its dramatic rock formations, layered badlands, and photogenic mesas. At sunrise, the low side lighting from the rising sun bathes the badlands and surrounding mountains and mesas in a distinctive orange glow, revealing texture and depth in ways that change minute by minute. This particular morning had a unique hue that was masterfully captured by southwest photographer Todd Stapleton from the air, creating an astonishing image to preserve, admire and cherish for generations.
