The Sonoran Desert is famous for producing some of the most beautiful and dramatic sunsets in the American Southwest. It is also the most lush of all North American deserts, providing a plethora of cacti and flora to frame the light of the setting sun. The giant saguaros intertwine with the cholla and ocotillo in this particular section of desert, deep in the backcountry of Tonto National Forest, provide a stunning foreground for this classic Arizona sunset. This remarkable image was photographed in the spring of 2016 by southwest photographer Todd Stapleton, capturing this moment to be preserved and cherished for a lifetime.
