The striated patterns found in the dunes of White Sands National Park seemingly stretch to the horizons in every direction you look when you are in the backcountry, creating a vast, rhythmic landscape that draws the eye outward. This particular image was created using a filter to introduce a dynamic lighting effect, enhancing contrast and shadow to give the scene additional depth and a more evocative mood. This scene was masterfully captured by southwest photographer Todd Stapleton to preserve and cherish for generations.
