The origins of the three faces painted on three weathered tree trunks in Northern Arizona are a mystery. Some say that they are either Navajo or Hopi ceremonial masks but no one seems to know for sure. They have become somewhat iconic for the drive along the stunning Highway 89 and they do make for a very interesting photograph. This surreal image photographed in the summer of 2016 by Arizona photographer Todd Stapleton, capturing this moment to be preserved and cherished for a lifetime.
